Introducing the RideSafer Delight Travel Vest

RideSafer Travel Vest old to new

The RideSafer Delight is a wearable car seat that is adjustable to your child and can be tethered for additional safety and proper positioning.

evolution of ridesafer travel vest

If you have looked at previous models of the RideSafer, you know there used to be two versions. You had to choose if you wanted to be able to tether the vest (RideSafer 2) or if you wanted to be able to adjust the height of the vest to your child (RideSafer 3).

Now you can do both!

Now the only choice you have to make for your RideSafer Travel Vest is which size and color you want and whether or not you plan to use a tether with it. (We recommend using the tether in addition to the lap-shoulder belt for additional upper body restraint and support; especially for younger children — 3 to 5ish — or children with special needs to help keep them in proper pre-crash position.)

The main components of the vest are the guides on the lap and shoulders to keep the seat belt in proper position. All of the webbing is a harness with padding designed to absorb and dissipate the crash energy of the shoulder belt as it crosses the child’s chest.

The RideSafer Delight comes with an optional, removable neck pillow and crotch strap. You can choose if you want to add a tether strap to your vest or not.

To use the vest, put it on the child like any vest. Put the seat belt over the child, buckle and insert the seat belt into the guides on the vest.

The RideSafer Delight is adjustable in size across the chest with the Velcro and the web strap adjustments. On the back there are two adjustable straps that adjust for the comfort of the shoulder on the child using Velcro. This doesn’t really effect the way the vest performs in a crash, it is primarily for comfort.

RideSafer Delight can be used with the Delighter Booster.

  1. We have been using this vest system for the past 3.5 years and love it for our 11 yr old son with Cerebral Palsy. As he continues to grow he will soon outgrow this harness system. Are there any plans in the works to make a larger size that would fit an adult? There is no other product on the market that we are aware of like yours. Thank you.

    Chris

    1. Hi Chris, The RideSafer manufacturer has long considered making a larger size vest but certain design changes would be required to fit larger children and test properly. He has not gone down the route yet. We are keeping track of the number of requests we get for a larger vest and keep him notified.

  2. We have an 8yr old son with Down Syndrome. He has outgrown his high back boosters five point harness system. He also unbuckles himself when we use just the seatbelt. I think your ride safer delight along with your Buckle Boss would be great options for him to stay safe. Our can comes equipped with seat anchors in the middle row, but no floor anchors. Do you have any suggestions for tethering?
We would like to use this vest for our two daughters as well who are 4 & 5. Their row has neither seat anchors nor floor anchors…

    1. Hi Genie,
What year, make and model is your car? If it has the lower anchors it should also have tether anchors. You can check your owner’s manual for locations. I am also happy to look it up in our LATCH manual, if you like. You are welcome to message back here, email amie (at) saferide4kids.com or call 844-421-7233. If your car does not have tether anchors, there may be a way to tether using the RideSafer EATAL. You can learn more about the EATAL here.

    1. Hi LA, Yes the RideSafer Delight can be used with a lap-only belt and tether strap like the old RideSafer 2 vest.
