The seat belt is the first line of defense in a car crash, meant to lock and hold a person in the seat. The challenge during pregnancy is the lap portion often goes right across the pregnancy even when you have it positioned “correctly” as low as you can. Then baby bump is being pushed into that first line of defense during a crash, which can cause injuries to unborn baby. The Tummy Shield creates a leg harness, similar to a baby’s car seat or race car driver’s seat belt, and redirects the seat belt away from the baby bump. This also minimizes the likelihood of “submarining” under the seat belt during a crash.
