WHAT IF HAVE A CHILD WITH A HALO?

The manufacturer approves the use of RideSafer Vests with Halos as long as you can get a good fit with the Halo being used.

They tested the use of a full-body Halo with a PMT Halo System and RideSafer Travel Vest using a 3-year-old ATD in September 2018 at Transportation Research Center in Ohio with Dr. Eric Sribnick and Dr. Julie Mansfield. The method of RideSafer application involved removing the RideSafer’s vertical straps from the rings on the back of the vest and slipping them under the 4-posts of the Halo brace and reattaching through the adjuster rings on the back of the vest.  We ran the tests using the tether attached to the vest and found the results to be acceptable.

Although they tested with the Gen4 vest, they brought some of their findings into developing the Gen5 so the acceptance of this method of using RideSafer vest continues for all types of Halo Orthopedic devices where the RideSafer harness Straps can offer a good fit.

The use of the RideSafer vest deviates from the standard instruction manual in that the dimensions of the Halo device need to be taken into account when choosing the correct size of the RideSafer vest.  Also, the manufacturer permits uncrossing the straps on the back if the fit is better and adjustment can be made easier. They ran all of the tests without the use of the crotch strap but have since made longer crotch straps that are available, if needed.
